For attorneys:
Minimum of eight (8) years of domestic relations experience (grandfather in charter members).
Seventy-five percent (75%) of practice must relate to separation and divorce issues.
For mental health professionals:
Minimum eight (8) years of experience dealing with families going through separation and divorce.
Fifty percent (50%) of practice must relate to separation and divorce issues.
For financial neutrals:
Minimum eight (8) years of experience.
Twenty-five percent (25%) of practice must relate to separation and divorce issues.
Be a certified financial planner or certified divorce financial analyst or certified public accountant.
For mortgage brokers:
Be a member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB).
All applicants:
Completion of approved collaborative law team training course and provide Certificate of Training.
Submission of the names and phone numbers of (2) references who have experience in the applicant's field of practice and with whom the applicant has worked.a. Membership committee may use discretion in getting additional references if there is conflicting
information presented by the 2 references.
Be a certified financial planner or certified divorce financial analyst or certified public accountant.
Submission of a paragraph explaining why the applicant wants to join CDA and what the applicant has to offer the organization.
All applicants must disclose any previous felony convictions, sanctions, disbarments, loss or suspension of license and explain the circumstances.
Be a member in good standing with the appropriate licensing organization for your profession.
Prospective members shall have either mediation training or will be required to describe their experience with mediation that he or she feels is a comparable substitute for formal training.a. Prospective members having neither mediation training nor comparable mediation experience
shall be given two years within which to be trained.
Membership in IACP and MCPC and participating in collaborative continuing education programs is strongly encouraged but not required
$350.00 per year
Payment is due in September of each year. All members will receive their dues' notice in June of each year.
If there is no payment within thirty days of due date, there will be a warning letter sent and 30 more days given before membership is withdrawn
Applications will be reviewed quarterly. Applicants joining in the June quarter
will pay their dues with current members the following September. All other applicants will pay within 30 days of admission to CDA, and thereafter per the annual
September payment schedule.
Attendance Requirements
Members must attend 5 out of 11 events (8 meetings, 2 parties and the CDA Institute) with the condition that 3 of the 5 events must be meetings.
Members failing to meet attendance requirements shall be notified in person.
An annual certificate of compliance will be issued to members and they will certify under oath that they have met the attendance requirements. Members will also be asked to state which continuing education classes they participated in that year and the reason for their choice(s). If they did not attend any classes, they will state the reasons for not doing so.
