Paul Stein   | Attorney

PStein.jpgPaul T. Stein is considered to be an outstanding trial lawyer both locally and by nationally recognized organizations. The National Board of Trial Advocacy, an American Bar Association accredited organization, has granted him Board Certification in criminal and civil trial advocacy. In March of 2003, Mr. Stein was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers having been nominated by other members and passing a rigorous scrutiny of his trial career. In addition, Mr. Stein was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award for superior proficiency in the art and science of trial advocacy while in law school. Mr. Stein served in the State's Attorney's Office for Montgomery County, Maryland, from 1970 to 1975 both as a paralegal and as an Assistant State's Attorney where he had increasingly more responsibility for management and trials of serious felony matters. For over twenty years, he has been an Adjunct Professor in the Trial Practice Program at the American University Washington College of Law. Out of these trial experiences Mr. Stein is very much aware of the brilliance of our trial system, but also of its shortcomings. He has successfully completed 80 hours of mediation training and has served as both a court appointed mediator and a private mediator. Most recently he has completed collaborative law training. Although he continues to litigate, he believes that strong litigators can also be strong advocates of alternative dispute resolutions including the collaborative law process.
